Men of Iron Constitution
PREAMBLE
Whereas, in the providence of the Almighty God, men have been called together to foster a deeper knowledge of God through His Holy Word.
Whereas, the Men of Iron accept the Bible as their rule of Faith and Practices;
Whereas, there exists the necessity of a man to deepen his understanding of the God that created him;
Whereas, there exists the necessity for a system of harmony and cooperation of men for the
promotion of God’s Kingdom;
Whereas, there exists the necessity of men modeling a Biblical manhood;
Whereas, there exists fatherless families or broken homes;
Therefore, we, the members of the Men of Iron platoon 9941, do herby declare that we are in full accord with the Word of God as our guide for this group’s membership and government;
Therefore, for the above purpose, we now being assembled in our annual business meeting adopt the following Constitution and By-Laws. DATE
ARTICLE I Name
The name of this organization shall be, “Men of Iron, Platoon 9941” Also referred to as “Men of Iron” the additional platoon number differentiates this group from any and all future Men of Iron organizations that organize as subsidiaries of this organization.
ARTICLE II Membership
SEC. 1 Membership in this organization shall be composed of men that have a willingness to serve God, grow in their faith, study His Word, and respond to God’s calling on their lives as God gives them light. The men in this organization will hold each other accountable, encourage one another, and seek to make each other better followers of Jesus Christ. The names of those seeking membership will be submitted to the board for approval.
SEC. 2 The membership roll shall be reviewed and revised as often as deemed by the board.
ARTICLE III Voting Members and Voting Privileges
All members of the Men of Iron in good standing shall have a voice and a vote in the regular business meetings. The only exception is in voting for trustees, where by state law requires that the voter be eighteen years old.
ARTICLE IIII Organization
SEC. 1 Members of the Men of Iron shall meet once a year to elect and vote for officers to represent them for the coming year and to conduct or transact any other business as may properly come before them. This meeting will be conducted no earlier than due and reasonable notice given to all members. Reasonable efforts by the secretary will be email, phone call or text. Reasonable notice shall constitute of no sooner than two weeks.
SEC. 2 Special meetings may be called by the board, at the request of 30% of the members. Due and reasonable notice must be given to members prior to holding the special meeting.
SEC. 3 30% of the board members shall constitute a quorum.
ARTICLE V Regular and Annual Meetings
SEC. 1 At all regular meetings the board president shall preside, or in his absence the president elect. In all elections a majority of votes cast shall determine an election, except in an annual meeting when a vote is taken to change or amend the constitution, where a two-thirds vote is required.
SEC. 2 The officers to be elected annually are as follows: President, President Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, four trustees.
SEC. 3 Annual and Regular Meetings will include but not be limited to:
a. Devotional
b. Reading and approval of last meeting minutes
c. Reports of officers and or committees
d. Election of officers (for annual meeting only)
e. Deferred business
f. New Business
g. Miscellaneous business
h. Suggestions for the good order of the Platoon
i. Prayer and Adjournment
ARTICLE VI Board
SEC. 1 The board shall be composed of a president, president elect, secretary, treasurer, and four trusties. The time and place of the regular meetings will be decided on by the board. 51% of the board will constitute a quorum to conduct business.
ARTICLE VII
SEC. 1 President – It shall be the duty of the president to preside at all meetings, and to act in an impartial manner to preserve order, to appoint committees, unless otherwise provided for. He shall be entitled to his own views and use his own judgement and wisdom, and to vote. The president will hold a one year at a time term.
SEC. 2 President Elect – It shall be the duty of the president elect to preside at all meetings, to assist the president with his duties, and in his absence, fulfill the duties of the president. He shall be entitled to his own views and use his own judgement and wisdom, and to vote. The president elect will hold a one year at a time term at the end of which the president elect will become president and abide by the terms and duties therein.
SEC. 3 Secretary – It shall be the duty of the secretary to keep record of all proceedings of all official meetings, attend to all correspondence, and discharge all other duties pertaining to that office. He shall be entitled to his own views and use his own judgement and wisdom, and to vote. The secretary will hold a one year at a time term.
SEC. 4 Treasurer – The treasurer shall receive all money collected or otherwise received by the Men of Iron. Pay all bills authorized by the board, make a written report at each board meeting and to give an annual report of any and all finances of the Men of Iron. He shall be entitled to his own views and use his own judgement and wisdom, and to vote. The treasurer will hold a one year at a time term.
SEC. 5 Trustee – The trustees shall hold office for two years. The election of trustees shall be arranged so that no more than two trustees are elected every year at the annual meeting. They shall provide wisdom, guidance, and action as representatives of the entire organization. He shall be entitled to his own views and use his own judgement and wisdom, and to vote.
ARTICLE VIII Discipline
If any member offends and fails to conduct themselves in accordance with the values expressed by the Men of Iron, the board shall follow the steps as laid out in Matthew 18:15-17. After having done so, if the man persists in his offense it will be the prerogative of the board to remove him from membership and affiliation with the Men of Iron.
ARTICLE IX Withdrawal
Withdrawal of membership shall only be granted upon written request and approval of the board.
ARTICLE X Amendments
Amendments to, or change in, this constitution may be made only by a two-thirds vote of the members at the annual meeting, or in a specially called meeting after due and reasonable notice is given to all members.
BY-LAWS
1. The government of Men of Iron Platoon 9941 shall be vested in the men of the organization.
2. The members of Men of Iron Platoon 9941 shall be invested in their respective communities.
3. Men of Iron will conduct themselves in accordance with the following values
a. 1 Corinthians 10:13 – No temptation shall overtake you
b. Proverbs 16:32 – Be slow to anger
c. 1 Timothy 5:8 – Provide for your family
d. Proverbs 4:10-15 – Protect your family
e. Ephesians 5:23 – Serve and lead your family
f. Micah 6:8 – Walk with God
4. Men of Iron will be reputable members of the community
5. Men of Iron will be known for serving other organizations that foster similar values
6. No man will be turned away from the Men of Iron that is a professor and follower of Christ.
